During the past several months there has been
a growing concern that there were contaminants (i.e. mold) in the
Camp of Colors (COC) facility that were causing weekend participants
to become sick.The COC
board has been addressing this concern at their last few
meetings.In mid-June,
Paul Kreager, COC Board Chairman asked Rollie Bevers, previous
Chairman to search for and hire a health professional to evaluate
the facility to determine if there was a problem.During the last week of
June, Rollie and Dave Vinke, COC maintenance contractor, met with
two different health professionals at the camp.Environmental samples were
taken and evaluated.Praise the Lord, the results came back indicating that the
COC facility does not have a mold problem.Even though these tests came
back with favorable results, the COC board is still taking steps to
reduce moisture levels in the facility that could potentially cause
problems.Weekend
events are comprised of many people coming from a variety of
environments into a relatively closed facility and in close
contact.These are
conditions that are conducive to the spread of germs and
illnesses.The policies
and procedures in place at the camp are such that these health risks
are mitigated as much as possible. The COC board prayerfully
requests that each community continue to do as much as possible to
assist in keeping the camp as sanitary and clean as possible so that
lives can continue to be changed in a way that brings glory to our
Heavenly Father.If you
have further questions regarding this issue, please contact your
community’s representative to the COC board.Thank you and God
Bless!
Respectively,
